Foundation

The “Fürst-Pückler-Park Bad Muskau” Foundation was established in 1993 by the Free State of Saxony as a dependent foundation under public law within the remit of the Saxon State Ministry of Finance. Its assets consist of the Muskau Park with all its gardens and buildings west of the Lusatian Neisse. The foundation has the task of restoring and preserving the Muskauer Park ensemble, which is of national and cultural-historical significance, in accordance with the historical model. The aim is to maintain and manage this monument to garden art in partnership with the Republic of Poland - particularly in the spirit of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention. This stipulates the protection of cultural and natural heritage of outstanding universal value.

Foundation board

The Foundation board makes the fundamental decisions for the work of the “Fürst-Pückler-Park Bad Muskau” Foundation. The eight-member body meets twice a year for this purpose. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees is Sebastian Hecht, Head of Office at the Saxon State Ministry of Finance.

Other members of the committee are a representative of

  • the Saxon State Chancellery,

  • the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism,

  • the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media,

  • the Federal Foreign Office,

  • the National Institute for Cultural Heritage in Warsaw
    (Narodowy Instytut Dziedzictwa – NID),

  • the mayor of the town of Bad Muskau and

  • the mayor of the town of Łęknica.
