Tours and guided tours

Muskauer Park resembles a work of art. Its creator, Hermann von Pückler-Muskau, himself liked to call it “nature painting”. The green prince's landscapes are well thought out. It is therefore worth taking a guided tour to learn more about Pückler's philosophy, stylistic elements and design colors.

The Muskauer Park Tourist Center offers regular guided tours of the landscape garden. If you are planning a visit in a larger group, you can easily book a tour in advance.

If you are interested in a group tour, please register in good time at the tourist center.

There must be at least 15 people in the group. If fewer people take part, the price for the minimum group size will still be charged. If possible, groups should not exceed 30 participants. Larger groups will be split at no extra charge. For tours in the Polish part of the park, please remember to bring a valid identity card or passport. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a guided tour for unannounced groups.

... if the park is a contracted idealized nature, the garden is a more extended dwelling.

Bike rental

Carriage rides

Pückler advised his visitors to take a carriage ride to get to know Muskauer Park. With a network of paths with a total length of around 50 kilometers, a leisurely tour in a carriage with 2 horsepower seems entirely appropriate. So follow the prince's advice and hop aboard to gain unforgettable impressions of the World Heritage Site in a relaxed manner. The carriage rides start at the Schlossvorwerk (exit in the direction of the New Palace).

Carriage rides on the German side

For public carriage rides or booked carriage and horse-drawn carriage rides (not available for the Polish side of the park).

Boat tours

Pückler spared neither expense nor effort to realize his ideas. In Muskau, he created an artificial watercourse and led it through the park as a branch of the natural river. The Hermannsneiße is a creative trick by the master and is not suitable for a boat trip.

However, if you would like to see the garden artist's work from the water, you can board a rubber dinghy at the old weir not far from the orangery. From there, a two-and-a-half-hour tour on the Neisse leads to Żarki Wielkie (Groß Särchen), where the boaters are picked up again by bus.

Excursions on the water can be booked with:

Forest railway

The Muskau forest railroad runs from Weißwasser to the park town on the Neisse. The narrow-gauge line originally went into operation in 1895 for the “Gräflich von Arnimsche Kleinbahn” to connect the manorial factories. The line to Bad Muskau was reopened in 1995 after the tracks were dismantled at the end of the 1970s. In May 2017, the extended route was handed over to the tourist train, which has been running to the rear of the former bathhouse ever since. On certain days, the forest railroad runs to Muskauer Park with a steam locomotive at the front. Otherwise, the line is operated by diesel locomotives. The exact times can be found in the timetable.
