The landscape painter Carl Graeb (1816–1884) and his series of watercolors of Muskau
The exhibition offers an extraordinary journey beyond the confines of time and space:
Carl Graeb is one of the celebrated artists of the 19th century, whose patrons included members of high-ranking European noble families. To this day, his works continue to fascinate viewers with their impressive precision and vibrant colors.
Thanks to financial support from the East German Savings Banks Foundation, together with the Sparkasse Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien Foundation, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Cultural Foundation of the German States, the Free State of Saxony, the Friends of Fürst-Pückler-Park Bad Muskau, and a large number of individual donations, the “Fürst-Pückler-Park Bad Muskau” Foundation purchase a series of large-format watercolors by this artist, created between 1855 and 1860.
It documents the Muskau estate in a unique way. The special exhibition focuses on these works and, through loans, offers insights into Graeb’s entire oeuvre.
